Hong Kong’s glass recycling rate is only 3%! Compare that to Europe 68%, the U.S. 30% and even Singapore 20%. Glass is usually the first material recycled in developed nations, so why is Hong Kong so far behind?
The Social Provocateurs invite you to attend our second event where April Lai, founder of Green Glass Green, will provide an overview of glass recycling issues in HK and share what her organization is doing to manage this problem.
We will then discuss how YOU can help Green Glass Green solve its most pressing issues. Our goal is to kick start initiatives to support Green Glass Green's amazing work and prove to the Hong Kong Government that a sustainable glass recycling movement is achievable and scalable!
Possible initiatives include:
- Create strategic relationships with more bars and restaurants in SoHo, LKF and Wanchai (in the future, TST, Quarry Bay, etc)
- Provide solutions to address the high worker / volunteer turnover rate
- Raise public awareness about glass recycling issue to influence public policy
- Map out the entire glass collection-recycling process and build a sustainable business model for Green Glass Green
