At the moment, there are no street corner bins for glass. We applied street locations for bins but it was not successful.
The greenglass project will collect wine bottles at the point where bins are provided during the collection hours.
Please take note of the coming announcement.
There are glass bins exhibited at the Greenglass kick off launch, would you come and join us?

I suggest to have a collection point in Soho (which refers to Hollywood Road, Staunton Street and Elgin Street along the pedestrian escalator to the Mid-Levels) where numerous bars and restaurants are located. In addition, the expats and the locals staying in the neighbourhood use to bring waste paper and aluminum cans to the recycle bins on the street. If you can set up a collection point on Hollywood Road near the pedestrian escalator, I am sure the restaurants and the residents are more than happy to contribute what we can to the ‘greenglass’ project. Thank you.

I buy the idea to set up a point in Soho. The place is always an issue. I did apply for the collection point before but it was turned down.
Having said that, it doesn’t mean I drop the attempt. At the moment I’m trying to apply for a spot that qualified the criteria of safety, sanitary, less disturbing,.. and approachable to bars and residents.
On the other hand, transportation cost is very expensive and it needs to work out.

To kanax

WE don’t have resources to set up collection at the moment. Definitely more than happy to see the extension in the near future. There is a church at Jordan has contacted us and expressed their interest to send the bottles to Luard Rd collectionus periodically. Will publicize it on the website when update news received.

i would like to have below suggestions :
1. there should have more collection points, like residential estates, schools……etc., can we push government to have 1 more box to collect bottle together with 3 colors collection boxs ?
2. how about encourage the company produce glass bottle products to recollect the bottle and reuse it again ? this can save their cost and with green image ! also, hk people if those bottle can repay for returning, lots of people will do it !
3. besides recycle into eco blocks, any other org recycle to glass bottle again ? if more org using the recycle bottle, more recycle value added.
4. even taiwan and sweden with high recycle rate, may be we can study how they can acheive this in their country, wish hk can do more on it !!
any org need volunteer to help and push recycle glass , i am willing to help !

Thank you jj for the excellent suggestions. In fact, they are also under our consideration. We’ll be grateful to have you to join us to make them realized. Please tell us of your strength or the area of your interest. Perhaps you can do it by sending to info@greenglass.org.hk if you like.
We are collecting inputs from other countries. The experience of Switzerland in underway for a Swiss friend is voluntarily helping. Others such as Taiwan,…. are very welcomed.
Please spread the news of the wanted volunteers and inputs.

april says:
January 10, 2011 at 10:58 pm
steven says:
January 11, 2011 at 8:34 pm
steven says:
January 11, 2011 at 9:10 pm
